Quick answer: To tell a fire hose cabinet manufacturer or trading company apart, run six checks: the business licence scope, whose name is on the certificates, a dated workshop video of a process you choose, where the sample was made, a call with the drawing engineer, and a factory visit. A manufacturer can pass all six; a trader rarely can.

Most importers ask a new supplier the same first question: is this a fire hose cabinet manufacturer or trading company? Buying through a trader is not wrong in itself, but on a large or customised order every extra layer adds a margin, slows every answer about the drawing, and gives the quality one more place to drift between the sample and the shipment.

Whether you are dealing with a fire hose cabinet manufacturer or trading company changes who you negotiate with, who owns the drawing and who answers for a bad batch. The good news is that you do not need to know sheet metal to tell the difference. Six plain checks, sent to every supplier on your shortlist, will sort them within a week.

Six Checks That Separate a Factory From a Trader

  1. Read the business licence scope. Ask for the licence and look at the scope of business. A manufacturer's scope includes production of the goods, not only sales, import and export.
  2. Check whose name is on the certificates. Quality system and product certificates should be issued to the company you are paying. A trader will often forward a factory's certificates under a different company name.
  3. Ask for a workshop video, and choose what is filmed. A stock factory video proves little. Ask for a short clip of one process on a weekday, for example a cabinet door being bent or a batch going into the powder-coating line, with today's date written on a sheet of paper in shot.
  4. Ask where the sample was made. A factory builds the sample on its own line from its own drawing. If the answer is vague, or the sample arrives in another company's carton, ask again.
  5. Talk to the person who draws the cabinet. Ask for a short call with whoever prepares the production drawing. A factory can put the engineer on; a trader has to relay the question and wait.
  6. Ask to visit. A real factory will give you an address you can look up and a date to come.

None of these checks is rude. A manufacturer expects them and answers them quickly. A trader may answer some of them well, but rarely all six: the licence, the certificates, the dated video, the sample, the engineer and the address all point back to one company only when that company owns the line.

Our Own Answers, So You Can Compare

Jiangsu SOKEI Fire Technology Co., Ltd. started as Wuxi SOKEI Fire in 2010 and moved into its own factory complex in Jingjiang in 2019. Today the work is split across three production bases and one sales office:

SiteWhat it does
Jingjiang, Jiangsu (headquarters)R&D, engineering, stainless steel cabinets and foam hydrant cabinets
Quanzhou, FujianPowder-coated carbon steel cabinets in volume, 60 km from Xiamen Port for container loading
Kashgar, XinjiangCarbon steel and foam hydrant cabinets for inland and Central Asian project supply
Wuxi, JiangsuExport sales, quotations and OEM specifications, English-speaking team

Our ISO 9001 certificate is issued to Jiangsu SOKEI Fire Technology, and its scope is fire hydrant boxes and foam fire hydrant boxes. Our cabinets also carry CCCF 3C certification and a third-party certificate of conformity to EN 60529 for enclosure protection. The workshop photos on our about page were all taken in our own plant, and buyers are welcome at any of the three bases with seven days' notice.

When a Trading Company Makes Sense

A trader has a real place in the market. If you need a handful of cabinets and want them in the same container as extinguishers, hoses and signs from other suppliers, a trading company that consolidates the lot can be the simpler route.

The balance changes when the order grows. Once you are buying cabinets by the container, building to your own drawing, or putting your own brand and local door lettering on them, you want the drawing, the sample and the production line in one company. That is where a manufacturer pays for itself: one quote against your drawing, one sample from the line that will build the batch, and one party responsible if a cabinet arrives wrong. Our factory page lists what each of our bases makes, and the importer and distributor program shows how a trial order becomes full containers.

What to Send a Supplier Before You Order

Make the six checks part of your first message, together with your drawing or a photo of the cabinet you want and an approximate quantity. A manufacturer will reply with a feasibility check and a sample plan rather than a price list. Our own factory overview shows the production lines, the three bases and the certificates in one place, and our export team answers within 24 hours.

Send the same six questions to every supplier on your list, and keep the answers side by side. Within a week you will know whether each one is a fire hose cabinet manufacturer or trading company, and which of them is worth a sample order.
