Indian hydrant systems are designed to IS 3844 for internal hydrants and hose reels and IS 13039 for external hydrant mains, with landing valves to IS 5290 and RRL hose to IS 636. None of those standards publishes a box size — the hose box is the housing, and the sizes below are what the market has settled on. We build to them, and to any size your BOQ states.
Landing valves on each floor landing, usually one 15 m length of hose per point. A single door hose box is the usual housing — compact enough for a stair lobby, deep enough for a coiled RRL hose and branch pipe.
Yard hydrants spaced along the main, each with two lengths of hose and a branch pipe stored beside it. That is where the double door hose box is used — more volume, two doors, weather-sealed.
The landing valve (63 mm instantaneous outlet) and the RRL hose are separate certified items. We make the box; your BOQ or your usual supplier provides the valve and hose, or we source them as matched accessories.
Hose box size in India is quoted both in millimetres and in inches. These are the sizes dealers and contractors ask for; every one is made to order, so a non-standard BOQ dimension costs no more in tooling.

The standard Indian double door hose box — 750 mm wide × 600 mm high × 250 mm deep, two doors side by side, clear glass in a steel frame, key-operated round cam latch on each door, drip lip on top and wall mounting lugs. Holds two 15 m × 63 mm RRL hoses with a branch pipe. Made in 16 or 18 SWG mild steel, or SUS 304.
Where the hydrant point also carries a portable extinguisher: one tall body, two solid steel doors, each with its own key-operated cam lock and white lettering. Popular on external hydrant points and in industrial plants where the equipment has to stay out of sight and out of the weather. Made to your height and width.

Fire hose box sizes above are the market sizes, not a clause in any IS code. Note the orientation: the double door hose box is wider than it is tall — two doors side by side, 750 mm across and 600 mm high — while the single door box is square. SWG conversion: 16 SWG ≈ 1.5 mm, 18 SWG ≈ 1.2 mm. Doors: clear glass in a steel frame is the usual Indian specification, with a key-operated round cam latch; solid steel doors and padlock hasps are also made. Lettering “FIRE HOSE” or “HOSE BOX” in white on fire red, your dealer branding on request.

We do not publish per-piece retail prices — we quote batch FOB prices for dealers and contractors, with tiers by quantity. That is usually well below a per-piece marketplace price once you are ordering in dozens.
Most Indian orders are for the box alone — the hose, valve and branch pipe are bought locally or already in the BOQ. Parts of a hose box: body, door and frame, glass or glazed panel, hasp or lock, hinges, hose pegs, drip lip, back panel (or open back), lettering. Replacement glass, keys and locks are supplied for our boxes.

There is no size fixed by an IS code. In practice the single door hose box is 600 × 600 × 250 mm (24 × 24 × 10 in) and the double door hose box is 750 mm wide × 600 mm high × 250 mm deep (24 × 30 × 10 in as H × W × D) — wider than it is tall, with two doors side by side. Sizes of 500 × 500 × 200 mm and 900 mm wide are also common. The box follows the hose — one 15 m × 63 mm RRL length per compartment plus a branch pipe.
A single door box is roughly square, holds one hose length and a branch pipe, and is used at internal hydrant landings. A double door box is horizontal — 750 mm wide against 600 mm high — with two doors side by side, holding two hose lengths for external yard hydrants. Both are made in MS or stainless, wall mounted or on a stand, usually with clear glass doors and a key-operated cam latch.
An open-back hose box has no rear panel, so it can be mounted over a landing valve already fixed on the wall — the valve stays reachable through the back of the box. A closed-back box is fully enclosed and used where the hose is stored away from the valve. It cannot be changed after fabrication, so tell us which one the site needs.
Both. 18 SWG (about 1.2 mm) is the usual gauge for indoor hose boxes and 16 SWG (about 1.5 mm) for external hydrant points and industrial yards. We can go from 0.8 mm to 2.0 mm; heavier gauge costs more in material but takes site handling better.
Stainless yes — SUS 304 and 316, brushed or mirror finish, for coastal and chemical plants. FRP no: we are a sheet-metal factory, so we do not mould fibreglass boxes. If your BOQ calls for FRP we will say so rather than quote something we do not make.
