Fire Hose Cabinet Dimensions: Standard Sizes Explained

Most fire hose cabinets fall between 750 × 600 × 180 mm (compact single-door) and 1800 × 700 × 240 mm (full-height double door) — with recessed, semi-recessed and surface-mounted versions of each. This guide gives the standard series tables, wall-clearance rules and door formats, plus factory CAD drawings on request.

Standard Fire Hose Cabinet Size Series

Four size series cover most commercial and industrial specifications. Every cabinet is manufactured to order — treat these as the industry's common starting points, then adjust to your project drawing.

SeriesTypical Size (H × W × D, mm)Door FormatTypically HoldsCommon Use
750 series — compact single-door750 × 600 × 180Single, glass or solidHose rack or reel + angle valveCorridors, stairwells, small offices
800 series — hose reel cabinet800 × 650 × 220 / 800 × 800 × 280SingleSwing hose reel + inlet valveMalls, offices, hotels (most common)
1500 series — combination1500 × 700 × 240Double doorHose system + 1–2 extinguishersCommercial buildings, factories
1800 series — full-height station1800 × 700 × 240Double doorComplete hose station + extinguishers + accessoriesIndustrial, tunnels, standpipe floors

US-practice projects may specify a fire hose rack cabinet or fire hose station instead — the same size logic applies, with rack-and-valve fit-outs per NFPA-referenced specs. Always size the cabinet to the hose length and valve gear your specification calls for.

Recessed vs Surface-Mounted: Wall Clearances

The same cabinet size installs three ways — what changes is the wall preparation. Get the rough opening wrong and the cabinet arrives before the wall is ready, so lock this down at shop-drawing stage.

01

Recessed

Fully inside the wall — flush, architectural finish. Rough opening ≈ cabinet body + 25 mm clearance per side; wall cavity must exceed cabinet depth by 20–30 mm. Best for corridors where projection is not allowed.

02

Semi-Recessed

Body partly in the wall, trim projects 40–100 mm. The standard answer when the wall is too thin for a full recess — keeps a near-flush look without rebuilding the wall.

03

Surface-Mounted

Zero wall depth needed — the whole cabinet sits proud of the wall on fixings. Fastest to install and the default for plant rooms, factories, tunnels and retrofits.

Single Door vs Double Door Cabinets

Single-door cabinets (500–650 mm wide) carry the hose system alone. A double door fire hose cabinet (700 mm wide and up, typically 1500–1800 mm tall) adds a second compartment for fire extinguishers — one wall unit, two systems, which is why combination cabinets dominate commercial BOQs. Door options: tempered glass, solid steel, or aluminium-framed glass; keyed cylinder or breakable-lock formats.

Fire Hose Cabinet Dimensions — FAQ

What is the standard size of a fire hose cabinet?

Most indoor fire hose cabinets fall between 750 × 600 × 180 mm (compact single-door) and 1800 × 700 × 240 mm (full-height combination). The most common commercial size class is around 800 × 650 × 220 mm for a hose reel cabinet and 1500 × 700 × 240 mm for a hose-plus-extinguisher combination unit. Exact dimensions follow your project specification — cabinets are built to order.

How much wall clearance does a recessed fire hose cabinet need?

As a rule of thumb, the rough opening should allow the cabinet body plus roughly 25 mm clearance on each side, and the wall cavity must be deeper than the cabinet body (cabinet depth plus about 20–30 mm for services and fixing). Where the wall is too thin, a semi-recessed cabinet that projects 40–100 mm from the wall face is the usual compromise.

How big is a double door fire hose cabinet?

Double door fire hose cabinets typically start around 1500 × 700 × 240 mm — one door serves the hose compartment, the other a fire extinguisher compartment. Full-height double door units run to 1800 mm tall.

Can you manufacture custom cabinet dimensions?

Yes — every cabinet is made to order. Send your architect's drawing, BOQ line item or even a sketch with H × W × D, and we manufacture to that size in powder-coated carbon steel or SUS 304/316 stainless, recessed or surface-mounted, single or double door.
